Lorayne Primus

Lorayne Primus, 91 year old resident of Swanville died Wednesday, January 31, at the Country Manor in Sartell. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 6, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. The burial was in the parish cemetery.
Lorayne (Winter) Primus was born on December 16, 1926, in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, Minnesota, to the late Walter and Veronica (Weyman) Winter. She attended rural country school until the eighth grade. After her schooling she helped her family on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Alcuin Primus on June 21, 1950, in Spring Hill. The couple made their home near Swanville on a farm. Lorayne was a stay-at-home mom raising the couple’s 12 children. She was a very devout Catholic and faithfully prayed the rosary. Alcuin died in November of 1979. Lorayne continued living on the farm near Swanville until December of 2010 when she moved to the Country Manor. She was a 4-H leader for several years. Lorayne enjoyed gardening, knitting, quilting, crocheting, sewing, playing cards and baking, especially her homemade bread. She attended many high school basketball games and other of her children’s activities. Lorayne was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and the Mission Circle.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kenneth Primus of Little Falls, Joseph (Shirley) Primus of Bowlus, Steven Primus of Swanville, Mary Kay (Richard) Schmit of Fargo, ND, Robert (Kim) Primus of Holdingford, Daniel (Joni) Primus of Swanville, Jeffrey (DeAnna) Primus of Swanville, Patrick (Mary) Primus of Maple Lake, William (Kristin) Primus of Swanville, and Susan Feliciano of St. Cloud; daughter-in-law, Nancy Primus of Flensburg; son-in-law, Chuck Heisick of St. Cloud and 33 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joan Winter of WI and Bernadine Winter of Greenwald.
Lorayne was preceded in death by her husband, Alcuin; son, Thomas Primus; daughter, Darlene Primus; siblings, Ernest (Eleanor) Winter, Irene (Clarence) Tomczik, Esther (John) Heinen, Elmer (Virginia) Winter, Othmar Winter and Clarence Winter.
