Loris Bunger, age 91 of Albany, MN passed away peacefully on January 19th at Mother of Mercy Senior Care. Loris was born in Lennox South Dakota on March 14th 1930. She graduated from Lennox High School while working long hours at a local grocery store as a Customer Service Clerk. On February 3rd, 1950 she married Kennard Bunger in Lennox, South Dakota. Loris and Kennard were happily married for 15 days short of 72 years. They moved to Sioux Falls and were members of First Reformed Church and later Good News Reformed Church. She, along with Kennard were the Custodians of First Reformed Church for 30 years.
Loris enjoyed embroidering, quilting and created handmade quilts for many of the family, painstakingly hand quilting around all of the embroidered designs on each and every quilt. Loris enjoyed the outdoors. She and Kennard spent much time camping in their favorite place, the Black Hills of South Dakota. For a great many years they assisted all summer at Big Pine Campground just outside of Custer where they would spend nearly 5 months of the year in their camper. Loris enjoyed baking cookies for each and every holiday meticulously decorating each cookie by hand. She was known to often bake cookies while camping.
Loris and Kennard moved to Albany in the late fall of 2007.
Loris is survived by her husband Kennard Bunger of Albany, 3 children, Gaylon (Sue) Bunger of Sioux Falls, Marcy (Glenn) Mushaney of Ft. Mohave, AZ and Todd (Heidi) Bunger of Albany. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Loris is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Johanna Van Ningen, sister Alva and Elmore VanLoh, sister in law Viola and Delmer Kuper and grandson Erik Bunger, all formerly from Sioux Falls.
As per Loris’s request no services will be held at this time. Internment will take place in Lennox, South Dakota at a later date.
