Lorraine C. Uphoff, age 85 of Melrose, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, July 2 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment followed in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in New Munich.
Lorraine Catherine Ahrens was born July 22, 1928 in Melrose, Minnesota to Henry and Elizabeth (Hallermann) Ahrens. She married Raymond A. Uphoff on September 12, 1950 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. Together Raymond and Lorraine farmed near New Munich. In 1995, Lorraine moved to Melrose. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lorraine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose, former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, Christian Mothers, and Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council.
Survivors include her children, Dave (Carol) Uphoff of Sauk Centre, Roger (Sharon)Uphoff of Albany, Carol (Rick) Schneider of Sauk Centre, Linda (Ken) Schneider of Meire Grove, Bev (Allen) Lieser of Belgrade, and Victor (Ann) Uphoff of Melrose; 18 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two on the way in July; sisters-in-law, Caroline Ahrens of Grey Eagle and Monica Ahrens of Melrose.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Uphoff on August 22, 1991; brothers, Norbert and Ralph Ahrens; sister, Marcella “Sally” Meyer; and brother-in-law, Jerome Meyer.
Serving as casket bearers were Kevin Uphoff, Tina Uphoff, Brian Schneider, Scott Schneider, Eric Lieser, Morgan Uphoff. Cross bearer was Megan Uphoff and scripture bearer was Brianna Lieser. Gift bearers were Sara Schneider, Jason Uphoff, and Mitchell Uphoff. Readers were Lori Uphoff and Henry Ahrens. Eucharistic Ministers were Allen Lieser and Morgan Uphoff.
