Lorraine Clasemann of Long Prairie died January 10. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie.
Lorraine was born on February 23, 1924, in rural Long Prairie to Charles and Hermena “Minnie” (Laumeyer) Spieker. She was proud to be able to say that she was baptized, made her first confession, received her first Holy Communion, was confirmed, and was married at Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie.
Lorraine married Francis Clasemann on May 21, 1946, and together they farmed, first east of Long Prairie and then on the original Clasemann homestead southeast of Browerville. They took great pride in raising their 9 children well, and they always were aware of neighbors and family members who might need a helping hand.
Lorraine loved waltzing with Francis, playing cards, tending her big garden, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, praying, doing word search puzzles, and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis in 1998, her parents, her brothers Charles and Norman and Fredrick, and by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her children: Jane (and Loren) Kleinschmidt of Long Prairie, Donald (and Lori) Clasemann of Browerville, Rita Clasemann of Mora, Victor (and Bonnie) Clasemann of Long Prairie, Robert (and Beatrice) Clasemann of Long Prairie, Anthony (and Debi) Clasemann of Long Prairie, Susan (and Dennis) Ebnet of Long Prairie, Daniel (and Julie) Clasemann of Maple Lake, and Nancy Clasemann of Topeka, Kansas. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and her sisters Marie Wieland of Hastings, Lila (and Joseph) Clasemann of Long Prairie, Jeanette Geisenhof of Long Prairie, Bernice Hadash of Browerville, and Roselyn (and Luverne) Stadtherr of Willmar.
