Lorraine M. Schwieters, age 100, died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, July 23 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
Lorraine Magdalene Wander was born February 1, 1918 in Spring Hill, Minnesota to Michael and Theresa (Athmann) Wander. She attended Country School in Spring Hill through the 8th grade. Lorraine married Casper Schwieters on October 1, 1941 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Pine Villa Nursing Home in Melrose for 10 years. Lorraine enjoyed playing cards, listening to the Minnesota Twins, knitting, quilting, embroidering, and making rosaries. She has embroidered many dish towels and made hundreds of rosaries over the years. Lorraine was a great homemaker and loved spending time with her family.
Lorraine was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Christian Women.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel (Doreen) Schwieters of Spring Hill and Chuck (Beatrice) Schwieters of Melrose; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Monica Barten; sister-in-law, Jeanette Wander; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Casper Schwieters on May 5, 1968; parents, Michael and Theresa Wander; brothers, Alfred, Edwin, Ray, Al, and Christ Wander; and sisters, Eleanor Winter and Anna Mae Lensing.
