Madeline B. “Margie” Duclos, age 92 of Melrose, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Care Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, March 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
Madeline Bertha Luethmers was born October 22, 1922 in Krain Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Anna (Ostendorf) Luethmers. She was united in marriage to Henry Duclos on October 30, 1943 in St. Anthony. The couple owned and operated Freeport Trucking for many years. Madeline then worked as a nurse’s aide at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany. After retirement, she continued to call Freeport her home. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and quilting.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, Christian Women, and Young at Heart Club.
Survivors include her children, Joyce (John) Eveslage of Freeport, Judy Duclos (friend, Roger Meemken) of Sauk Rapids, Jeff (Deb) Duclos of Melrose, June (Dave) Domine of Clear Lake, and Joel (Twyla) Duclos of Robbinsdale; 13 grandchildren, Kirk, Sam, Scott, Mike (Sherry), and Steve (Sarah) Eveslage, Jacob (Jordan), Josh, Katelyn, and Jonah Duclos, Kristina Tripp, Courtney and Cameron Domine, and Maddie Duclos; 12 great-grandchildren, Tucker, Brody, Jack, Elijah, Kate, Henry, Grant, and Josie Eveslage, Keegan and Kylee Duclos, and Lily and Maddox.
Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Duclos; parents, Ben and Anna Luethmers; grandson, Jack Eveslage; granddaughter, Vicki Fitzgerald; brothers and sisters, Lawrence Luethmers, Clem Luethmers, Irene Kohorst, Laura Scherping, Marcella Luethmers, and Alma Luethmers.
Serving as casket bearers were Kirk, Sam, and Steve Eveslage, Jacob and Josh Duclos, and Cameron Domine. Cross bearer was Maddie Duclos, scripture bearer was Katelyn Duclos, and rosary bearer was Kristina Tripp. Gift bearers were Joel and Jeff Duclos. Mass servers were Nathaniel Welle and Katelyn Welle. Eucharistic Ministers were Deb Duclos and Kathy Welle. Lectors were Mike Eveslage and Jonah Duclos. Petitions were read by Sherry Eveslage. Music was by Sarah Eveslage, Jeanne Bonfig, and Yvonne Beste. Honorary bearers were the Christian Women and Goldenaires Senior Citizens.
