Marcella D. “Marcie” Schreifels

April 22, 2014 by Hometown News

Marcella D. “Marcie” Schreifels
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 25, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Marcella D. “Marcie” Schreifels, 94, of St. Cloud, who died April 19, 2014. The Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Marcie was born in Freeport on March 12, 1920 to Peter and Catherine (Notch) VanHeel. She married LeRoy Schreifels on May 6, 1943 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Marcie was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish for over 70 years, and a member of Christian Women, Legion of Mary, and Catholic Aid. She sang in the funeral choir and helped serve funeral lunches.
The family wants her 50 plus year, 500 card group, to know how much you meant to her: Paul and Lorraine, Bernie and Shorty, our Aunt Mabe, and dear friends Clarence and Joni Rieder. Even after Dad and his brother Alois passed away they continued to gather one Sunday evening of each month to carry on the tradition. The last time Mom played was February.
Marcie is survived by: daughters, Janet (Wayne) Esselman of St. Cloud, LaVonne (Glenn) Rogers of Brooklyn Park; sons-in-law Kenneth Pegg, Leo Pawelsky; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Tamm, Lucille (Vern) Eibensteiner; sisters-in-laws Rosemary Henkel and Mabel Schreifels; many nieces and nephews.
Marcie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, LeRoy, her daughters Eilleen Pegg, Maureen Pawelsky, and infant son David. Also preceded in death by her parents Peter and Catherine VanHeel, four brothers, and two sisters.
