Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon for Margaret G. Svihel, age 81, of St. Cloud and formerly of Avon, who passed away on July 2, 2012 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta. Reverend Blane Wasnie, OSB will officiate. Entombment will take place in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in ST. CLOUD and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church in Avon. Parish prayers will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in ST. CLOUD.
Margaret was born on June 7, 1931 in Farming, Minnesota to William and Rose (Klemmer) Brinkman. She married Joseph G. Svihel on June 23, 1953 in St. Cloud. Margaret was a devoted mother and wife, raising six children while supporting her husband with the operation of Granite Electronics. She was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella.
Margaret liked flower gardening, baking pies, bowling, antiquing and going to auctions. She loved family reunions and bringing her famous barbequed ribs. Margaret also enjoyed working at the church bazaar with her husband. She especially treasured the time spent with her family and husband at their lake home in Avon.
Margaret is survived by her children, Valerie (Lancelot) Honer of Cold Spring, Gail (Phillip) Kotoski of Hudson, WI, Jeanie (Edward) Olson of St. Cloud, Randall Svihel of St. Cloud, James (Michelle) Svihel of Duluth, Kristy Svihel of Plymouth; grandchildren, Andrew, Charles, Kevin, Annamarie, Edward, Elizabeth, Daniel, Heidi, Anthony, Thomas, Julie, Theodore, Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Angelo, Adrian, Miguel, Leah, Lexie, and Sophia on the way; sisters and brothers, Valeria, Cleo (Orville) Schlagheck, Sally (Max) Gilbert, Alfonse (Gloria), Orville (Judie), Gilbert (Carol), William (Carol); sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Svihel; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Joey; and husband, Joe in 2005; and sister, Ursula.
Margaret will be greatly missed as a Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend.
