Marie Elizabeth Pohlmann was born July 4, 1933 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. She was the youngest of six children born to the late Joseph and Mary (Soenneker) Pohlmann. She attended rural elementary school and then graduated from St. Francis High School in Little Falls. She worked different jobs and also helped families with newborns.
Marie met the love of her life, Hillary Dobmeier at a dance hall and years later married on July 3, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose, Minnesota. The couple purchased the Dobmeier family farm where they began their lives together. She was caregiver of Grandpa Dobmeier until his passing which was a “full-time task.” Marie was a very good wife, mom, cook, farmer, and gardener. Whether picking choke cherries for jam or chasing cows, hoeing the garden, feeding calves, baking bread, or making sausage, she did it all!
After Hillary passed away unexpectedly, Marie moved to Albany where she worked at KFC and then at the Freeport Community Center as a cook for weddings. Later, she volunteered at Mother Seton’s Store and Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her sons, Dan (Carol) Dobmeier and Tom (Anita) Dobmeier; five grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew, Alex, Austin, and Gracie; and seven great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant daughter; brothers, Joseph Pohlmann, Lawrence Pohlmann, and Edmund Pohlmann; and sisters, Sister Mary Paula Pohlmann, O.S.F.. and Valeria Boeckers.
Memorials can be made to Moments Hospice.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral and Cremation Services of Melrose.
