Marjorie M. “Margie” Beste, age 88 of Freeport, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Friday, February 4, 2022 at the CentraCare Care Center (Pine Villa) in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Entombment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. The Freeport Fire Department and Christian Women will pray a rosary at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church.
Marjorie Mae Illies was born May 3, 1933 in Elrosa, Minnesota to John and Hilda (Nathe) Illies. She was united in marriage to Alois “Al” Beste on December 30, 1957 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa, Minnesota. Margie worked at Kraft Foods in Melrose and at Speedy Print in St. Cloud. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport and the Christian Women. Margie enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting, gardening, and bowling.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Al Beste of Freeport; children, Jane (Craig) Pixley of Eden Prairie, John (Yvonne) Beste of Freeport, Tom Beste of Crosslake, and Joan (Karl) Klaphake of Spicer; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Lois (Phil) Williams; sister-in-law, Colette Illies; stepsister, Lailah (Jim) Simmer; and step-sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Rieland, and Bernie Rieland.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Hilda (Rieland) Illies; brothers, Fr. Wilfred Illies, Donald Illies, and James Illies; sister, Lillian Illies; sister-in-law, Viola Illies; stepbrothers, Bert Rieland, Ronald Rieland, Roman (Millie) Rieland, and Orville Rieland; and step-sister, Margie (Bob) Spanjers.
Memorials are preferred to CentraCare Care Center (Pine Villa) and CentraCare Hospice.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Freeport.
