Marlene A. Lieser

Marlene A. Lieser, age 79 of Spring Hill, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Women and Catholic United Financial will pray at 5 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Marlene Adella Welle was born August 16, 1938 in Melrose, Minnesota to Henry and Erma (Meyer) Welle. She was united in marriage to Gerald Lieser on August 18, 1959 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. The couple farmed all their lives northwest of Spring Hill. She enjoyed playing cards, Carbles, baking, traveling, and farming with her husband.
Marlene was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for 60 years, Christian Women, and Catholic United Financial.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Lieser of Spring Hill; children, Linda (Duane) Ostendorf of Boyes, Montana, Don (Irene) Lieser of Meire Grove, Joey (Brenda) Lieser of Meire Grove, Dennis (Brenda) Lieser of Spring Hill, Jane Schulzetenberg of St. Joseph, and Cheryl (Gene) Enneking of Melrose; 23 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Vernon (Genny) Welle of Spring Hill, Alice (Herb) Peters of Sauk Centre, JoAnn Middendorf of Sauk Centre, Henry “Sunny” (Bunny) Welle of Winona, and David (Marilyn) Welle of Greenwald; sisters-in-law, Lillian Welle of Sauk Centre and Bernice Welle of Spring Hill; and brother-in-law, Jerome Pelkey of Sauk Centre.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Kevin Schulzetenberg; brothers, Al Welle, James Welle, and Charles Welle; sister, Carol Pelkey; and brother-in-law, Art Middendorf.
Serving as casket bearers will be Bryant Ostendorf, Jenny Lieser, Nathan Lieser, Jeremy Lieser, Shawn Schulzetenberg, and Jake Enneking. Cross bearer will be Sara Middendorf and scripture bearer will be Angel Larsen. Readers will be Nichole Arms, Joel Ostendorf, Katie Hellickson, and Hannah Enneking. Gift bearers will be Adam Lieser, Jordan Lieser, and Hailey Enneking. Eulogy will be by Emily Smith. Honorary bearers will be Chris Ostendorf, Kia Thomas, Samantha Thull, Anthony Lieser, Victoria Lieser, Kelly Ostendorf, Jesse Thull, and the Christian Women.
