Mary C. Schwinghamer

The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Mary C. Schwinghamer, age 101 of Albany, will be 11:00 AM, Friday at the Church of the Seven Dolors in Albany. Fr. Cletus Conners will officiate, burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mary died Saturday at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany. There will be a visitation after 10:00 AM, Friday at the church. Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin Funeral Homes.
Mary was born June 30, 1915 in Albany to Isidor and Elizabeth (Funk) Schwinghamer. She graduated from Albany High School. She worked for six years at Shoemaker Hall at St. Cloud Teachers College, 26 years at the University of Minnesota Hospital and several years combining work and travel, retiring in 1974 when she moved back to Albany. She lived with her sister, Lidwina. She had two Pilgrimages; the holy year of 1950, she traveled to Rome and then in 1962, she traveled to the Holy Land. She also traveled to Canada, Mexico, Europe, Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia. Mary volunteered in many areas, including the Legion of St. Mary at the Paulist Fathers Information center; St. Lawrence Church, Minneapolis; and 22 years with the Meals on Wheels program in Albany. She was a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary, Secular Franciscans, Crosier Apostolate, St. Ann’s Society, Catholic Aid Association, St. Mathilda’s Mission Group, Rosary makers, Albany Senior Citizens, Albany Heritage Society, Stearns County Pioneer Club and the Stearns County Historical Society and Museum.
Mary is survived by her brother, Erwin (Joyce) Schwinghamer, Australia, many nieces and nephews and four god-children.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Bert Schwinghamer, Victor Schwinghamer, sisters, Lidwina Schwinghamer, Olivia Christen and Irene Conrad.
