Meinulf “Meiny” L. Himsl

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Friday November 24, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon for Meiny Himsl who died Sunday at his home in Avon Township. The Rev. Greg Miller, OSB will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services Friday at the church in Avon. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Avon.

Meiny was born in Avon Township to Frank & Julia (Achman) Himsl. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII, serving in Japan. After the war he worked for a short time driving taxi and as a mechanic and welder at the granite sheds in St. Cloud. He married Esther Pierskalla on August 12, 1950 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Meiny worked at Vision Ease for 42 years and also farmed on the family farm until retiring in 1991. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his children, Louis of St. Joseph; Bonnie (Tom) Kjenaas of Avon; grandchildren, Jeffrey Kjenaas of Hawaii; Cathy Buchanan of Big Lake; brother and sister, Alois of Easton, PA; June Lichy of Sauk Rapids; and 5 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Esther in 2001, siblings, Mildred Mock, Eldred, Amor, Marie Poppin, Gary, Melbourne, and JoAnne Plueger.
