Friday, February 18, 2022: The state patrol has released the name of the Melrose man killed after his car was hit by a Jeep traveling on the wrong side of the road in Minnetonka Friday. He was 30-year-old Alan Caraveo. Caraveo was traveling eastbound on I-394 when his car was hit head-on by a suspected drunk driver who was driving on the wrong side of the freeway. It happened just before 4 a.m. Friday near the Plymouth Road exit. A passenger in Caraveo’s vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the car that hit them, 20-year-old Joseph Maness of St. Anthony, was treated for his injuries at North Memorial Hospital.
