Morrison County Sheriff’s Office March 11, 2019

The Morrison County Sheriff ‘s Office reports that on 3-9-2019 at approximately 3:54 pm, their office received a report of a snowmobile vs. vehicle accident near the intersection of Abaca Road and 20th Avenue, approximately two miles west of Upsala, in Elmdale Township.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, 14-year-old Travis Kerfeld of Melrose, MN was driving a snowmobile on the trail, traveling west, crossing over 20th Avenue. 55-year-old Leif Johnson of Burtrum, MN was traveling south on 20th Avenue. Kerfeld failed to yield and was struck by the vehicle on the roadway. Kerfeld was transported to St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance with a possible leg injury.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Upsala First Response Team and Gold Cross Ambulance.
