The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 03-14-2017 at approximately 4:14 pm, a vehicle stopped behind a deputy’s squad car while the deputy was conducting an investigation on an unrelated matter near the intersection of 183rd Street and 255th Avenue, just north of Pierz. The driver reported they had been assaulted earlier that day by the person sitting in the front passenger seat.
According to Sheriff Larsen, as the deputies were talking to the suspect in the passenger seat and instructing him to step out, the passenger moved into the driver’s seat and fled in the vehicle. A pursuit ensued, traveling through the city of Lastrup and ending on 203rd Street east of 225th Avenue in Buh Township. The pursuit went on for approximately 10 miles reaching speeds near 90 mph. The lead squad car in the pursuit eventually performed a Pursuit Intervention Technique which stopped the suspect’s vehicle movement and the suspect, Derrick Miner, age 26 from Pierz was arrested. Miner is being held at the Morrison County Jail awaiting formal charges.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Pierz Police Department and the DNR.
