Morrison County Sheriff’s Office October 8, 2018

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 10-06-2018 at approximately 8:17 pm, their office received a report of an ATV accident on the Soo-Line Trail, near 280th Avenue in Pierz Township, east of Genola.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a side-by-side ATV driven by 45-year-old Eric Scholl of Royalton, MN was traveling west on the Soo-Line Trail. After crossing the intersection of 280th Avenue the ATV rolled. Passenger, 37-year-old Karla Scheel of Rice, MN was ejected and trapped underneath the ATV. Scheel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Eric Scholl of Royalton, MN was taken into custody and is being held in the Morrison County Jail pending charges for Criminal Vehicular Operation. The crash is under investigation by the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, Pierz Fire and Rescue, Pierz Police Department, Life Link III and Gold Cross Ambulance.
