St. Cloud, Minn. – Every 20 minutes an older adult dies from a fall in the United States. In honor of National Fall Prevention Awareness Day, CentraCare Health locally will do its part to raise awareness about how to prevent fall-related injuries among older adults and invites you to help take a stand to prevent falls.

Free STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths & Injuries) Assessments will be offered Friday, Sept. 21 at the following locations:

CentraCare Health Plaza
1900 CentraCare Circle, St. Cloud ꟷ Woodlands entrance
10 a.m. to noon or 1-3 p.m.

Church of Saint Joseph
12 West Minnesota Street, St. Joseph
9:30-10:30 a.m.

Whitney Senior Center
1527 Northway Drive, St. Cloud
10 a.m. to noon

Offered by nursing students from the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University, assessments will review an individual’s fall risk. Assessments only take five minutes and the public is welcome.
At the CentraCare Health Plaza location, St. Cloud Hospital Trauma Services will detail some practical, easy and affordable ways seniors can stay safe at home and in the community. CentraCare Health Medical Alert Service will also be available with information on in-home and personal emergency response systems — providing peace of mind to seniors and their families.

Sponsored in part by Trauma Services – St. Cloud Hospital, CentraCare Health Medical Alert Service, College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University Nursing Department, Central Minnesota Council on Aging and Church of Saint Joseph.
