Richard H. “Dickie” Rakotz, age 71 of Albany, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Julius Beckermann, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12 to 1:45 p.m. Friday at the church.
Richard Henry Rakotz was born March 9, 1954 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Joseph Sr. and Walburga (Bueckers) Rakotz. After he graduated from high school, he started working at the Holy Family School in Albany and then at Master Mark in Albany, Quik Mart in Albany, and lastly at the Albany Area Schools as a custodian.
He was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and the Albany Jaycees for many years. Dickie enjoyed hunting, fishing, antiquing, casino runs, and driving around town to socialize with people in the community.
Survivors include his sister, Irene (Elgin) Derichs of Iowa; brother, Marvin (Donna) Rakotz of St. James; sister-in-law, Geraldine Rakotz-Lenneman of Albany; and many nieces and nephews.
Dickie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and in-law, Elmer (Jane) Rakotz and Joseph Rakotz Jr; twin brothers, Norbert and Robert; and two great nieces, Dayzee Mae Rakotz and Melanie Walsvik.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
