Richard “Richie” J. Lyschik, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at his residence near Bowlus, MN, where he lived most of his life. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery in Bowlus, MN.
Richard Joseph Lyschik was born on November 23, 1943 to the late Nicholas and Magdelena Lyschik. He attended the District 1182 grade school in Bowlus and graduated from Royalton High School in 1961. Richard was a laborer, a skilled worker, and a handyman of all kinds. He worked as a cook “on the boats” in Lake Superior and lived in Alaska in his twenties. He spent seven years as a cement worker building schools in Wyoming. After returning to Minnesota, Richard worked at Larson Boats in Little Falls, MN, until his retirement. His favorite pastimes were fishing for crappies and sunfish. Richard enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially football, as well as old-time westerns. An avid card player, he treasured the hours spent in good company among friends and family. He had a big heart with helping hands, and always had a story to share.
Richard is survived by his brother, Ronald (Carolyn). He was an uncle to thirteen nieces, two nephews, and numerous grand-nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Magdalena; brother, Leo, and sisters, Mary Forsman and Bernice Liebsch.
