Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon for Richard Schindler, who died Thursday at Quiet Oaks Hospice House. The Rev. Blane Wasnie, O.S.B. officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Avon.
Richard was born on February 8, 1944 to Anton and Eva (Reischl) Schindler in St. Cloud. He married Carol Jean Eisenschenk on February 5, 1966 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Collegeville. Richard worked at Farm Service, JC Penney’s, Franklin and at Cold Spring Granite until he retired in 2009. Richard’s passion was for music both playing and listening. He played lead guitar in many bands. He played the violin, banjo, mandolin, piano and the accordion. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time relaxing with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Jean of over 49 years; sons, Owen of Eden Valley and Dion (Susan) of Richmond; brother, Jerome (Rosalie) from St. Wendel; sister, Kathleen (Ambrose) Gertken of St. Joseph.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene; sisters, Lucille Ritter and Elaine Dobmeier; brother in law, Elmer Dobmeier.
