Rosalie E. “Rose” Berscheid, age 93 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, November 21 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ronald Dockendorf officiating. Inurnment was in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Ward Springs.
Rosalie Elizabeth Ahrens was born March 12, 1924 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Fred and Mary (Schmiesing) Ahrens. Rose went to school through 8th grade and later on attended beauty school. She worked as a beautician in Sauk Centre and Minneapolis. Rose was united in marriage to Edward Berscheid on September 19, 1950 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. She loved cooking for family dinner and spending time with her grandchildren. Rose also made baby blankets for all of her kids and embroidered quilts. She had a love for gardening and her flowers.
Rose was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle, the Christian Mother’s at St. Bernard’s in Ward Springs and then St. Joseph’s in Grey Eagle. Rose also sang in the choir at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Berscheid of Sauk Centre; children, Susan (Paul) Dierkhising of St. Cloud, Dianne (Roger) Petersen of St. Cloud, Mike Berscheid of Sauk Centre, and Bill (Suzanne) Berscheid of Elk River; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Catherine Ahrens (twin sister), Walburga Arnzen, Dorothy Kemper, Edwin Ahrens, Sylvester Ahrens, Ferdinand Ahrens, and Marie Berscheid.
Serving as urn bearer was Eric Petersen. Cross bearer was Judy Hirschfeld and scripture bearer was Blake Berscheid. Lector was Brittney Keating and a eulogy was said by Brienne Berscheid.
