Rose M. Bollin, 70 year old resident of Upsala, MN formerly of Little Falls, MN passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at her home in Upsala, MN. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Faith Community Church in Burtrum, MN, with Rev. Terry Wardlaw officiating. Burial will be at the East Swanville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Shelley Funeral Chapel of Little Falls, MN, and from 10 am to 11 am Friday at the church.
Rose was born Dec 10, 1947 in Watertown, MN to Elliot and Elise Marie (Grorsen) Kjeldergaard. She was united in marriage to Alfred Otto Bollin on April 6, 1968 at the Little Brown Church in Chickasaw County, Iowa. Rose had 7 stepchildren; Sheila, Joann, Phillip, Jackie, Dennis, Susan and Cindy. Rose and Al also had 4 children together; Russell, Rodney, Darwin and Dale. Rose loved all of her children very much.
Rose worked at Jacks Outlet in St. Cloud before marrying Alfred. She stayed home with her family until after Dale was born then returned to work. She loved cooking and waitressing and was also a home health aide for a few years and then returned to her passion of cooking, by starting and running Grandma Rosie’s Lunch Wagon, which she and Al ran together until she could no longer work. Al took care of her while she was sick. She had been in and out of the nursing home for a couple years until about a year ago when she went home with hospice care and Al was caring for her until she passed away. In her younger years she made all of the children’s birthday cakes and was always very good at cake decorating. Rose’s hobbies included, sewing doll clothes for the American dolls and clothes for her granddaughter’s Barbie dolls. She loved horses and flowers and visiting with the grandchildren whenever she could.
Rose is survived by her husband, Alfred Bollin; sons, Dennis Bollin, Russell Bollin, Rodney Bollin, Darwin Bollin and Dale Bollin; daughters, Sheila Drayna, JoAnn John, Jackie Denelsbeck, Susan Pyburn, Cindy Sandgren; 41 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Elliot and Elise Kjeldergaard; brother, Melvin Kjeldergaard; sisters, Connie Nelson, Daryel (Dee) Karjala; stepson, Philip Bollin and great-grandson, Zathan Seelan.
