Ruby’s Pantry is a Hand Up Program

November 26, 2014 by Hometown News

The first Saturday of each month, Ruby’s Pantry food distribution is open for business at the River of Life Church in Sauk Centre from 10-11:30 a.m. This is not a hand out program and is open to all people in the area, not just Sauk Centre. There are no requirements to participate. Each participant is asked to donate $20 to offset the costs and in exchange they will leave with an abundance of groceries.
When you arrive at a distribution for the first time you will need to register and then sign in. This is a simple registration that requires no documentation. After the first time you will only need to sign in. You will receive a number.
When your number is called, you will go through a line where the food is. Although you aren’t required to take anything that you do not want, you are encouraged to take it and share with your family members, neighbors and friends.
So, if you would like to stretch your food dollars, please check out Ruby’s Pantry on December 6 at River of Life Church, 705 12th Street South, Sauk Centre. Remember, you will need to bring two large boxes or laundry baskets to place your items in, and cash.
Ruby’s Pantry also offers an opportunity for people to volunteer and help out. Volunteers meet at the church at 8 a.m., and the more the merrier.
