Shirley Ann Rose Von Wahlde

Shirley Ann Rose Von Wahlde, age 77 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at her home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, July 31st at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
Shirley Ann Rose Kampsen was born April 18, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Norbert and Lucille (Loch) Kampsen. Shirley attended country school near Elrosa and graduated from Belgrade High School in 1959. She worked for Pierson Ford as a secretary after high school. Shirley married Elmer Von Wahlde on May 22, 1962 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. They moved to their farm in 1962, where she was a farmer’s wife until they moved off the farm in 2007. In 1994 Shirley went to work for Centre Dairy as a secretary until her retirement in 2011. After retiring, Shirley spent much of her time volunteering for Holy Family School and CentraCare Health in Sauk Centre. Every Wednesday morning, she would meet with friends for “coffee clutch.” She enjoyed going to lunch with her sisters and aunts. Shirley loved to bowl, play cards, read, and walk. Family was a big part of her life and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Shirley was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, the Christian Mothers, and also taught religion for many years.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Elmer Von Wahlde of Sauk Centre; children, Brian “Butch” (Karen) Von Wahlde of Sauk Centre, Bonnie (Paul) Middendorf of Long Prairie, Jim (Carol) Von Wahlde of Sauk Centre, Lori (Ernie) Zehowski of Little Falls, and Sara (John) Folk of Fremont, WI; 21 grandchilren; 12 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and brothers and sisters, Roger (Hilda) Kampsen, Janet (Dick) Mickelson, Dennis (Rita) Kampsen, Marilyn (Don) Pommier, Sandra (John) Wehlage, Erma (Ron) Bertram, Alcuin (Mary) Kampsen, Bernard Kampsen, and Brenda (Mark) Hoffke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Lucille Kampsen; infant siblings, Joseph and Mary Kampsen; and grandson, Dustin Middendorf.
Serving as casket bearers were Jeremy Middendorf, Cody Middendorf, Kyle Von Wahlde, Jake Von Wahlde, Nicholas Zehowski, Morgan Folk, and Bailey Folk. Cross bearer was Brandon Von Wahlde and scripture bearer was Sydney Folk. Eucharistic Ministers were Sara Folk, Bonnie Middendorf, and Karen Von Wahlde. Lectors were Angela Von Wahlde, Tiffany Hartung, and Brianna Von Wahlde.
