Sophie Catherine Zwak, 98 +11months passed away peacefully Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home, Albany.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Opole, Minnesota.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Opole on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 4 pm to 7 pm and 10 am to 11 am Thursday. Parish prayers will be Wednesday at 4:30 pm. Interment will follow in the Parish cemetery.
Sophie Catherine Zwak was the first born daughter to John and Catherine (Zyzner) Patrias in St Wendel on April 22, 1916. She married Roman Zwak at St Columbkille Catholic Church, St Wendel on August 12, 1941.
Sophie and Roman took over the Zwak family farm in Opole, where she lived for 70 years. Sophie was devoted to her family and will always be remembered for her faith, hardwork, strength, lovingly handmade quilts and especially for her famous polish coffee cake and “Grandma Buns”. She was a faithful member of the Christian Mothers and Catholic War Vets. She will be dearly missed, may she rest in peace!
Survivors include her daughters, Audrey (Gary) Lange, Holdingford and Linda (Pat Marsolek) Zwak, St. Anna. Grandchildren, Scott Lange, Dean Lange, Mark Lange, Brad Lange, Melanie Johnson and Amber Ehrlichmann and seven great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roman (Dec. 7, 1997). Brothers, Peter, Sylvester, Theodore, August, Louis and Daniel Patrias. Sisters, Agnes Yurczyk, Rose Friedl, Mathilda Haas and Eleanor Biniek. Sophie’s Urn was lovingly made just for her by oldest grandson, Scott Lange.
