After a year of cancelling all concerts and recitals, St. Francis Music Center is happy and excited to present an outdoor spring concert on the beautiful grounds of Linden Hill Historic Estate in Little Falls. Live music is back and open to all!
This free, outdoor concert will be Wednesday, May 19, from 6 – 8 p.m. In case of rain, the concert will be the following Wednesday, May 26.
This concert will feature several ensembles from the Music Center. St. Francis Preparatory Orchestra, under the direction of Melissa Von Itter, will delight the audience with familiar tunes. St. Francis Concert Orchestra, directed by Olivia Munson, will play Linus and Lucy, Alexander’s Rag Time Band and two other pieces.
St. Francis Percussion Ensemble and URock are two programs directed by John Tetrault and Amanda Jansen. The Percussion Ensemble celebrates percussive instruments, from buckets and garbage cans to more recognizable instruments. Their high energy and imagination always wows audiences
The UROCK band, “Sunny in Florida” will perform music by The Cure, the Cranberries, and an original song written by senior, Michael Oberton. There will also be a drum solo by Music Center student, Ben Bruns.
The groups have been practicing all year through coronavirus quarantines, social distancing, masks and many more challenges, but their love of music kept all the musicians motivated to keep playing.
The concert is free and open to the public. The public is asked to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Attendees are asked to be considerate and maintain 6 feet of social distance from other groups. The concert will also be live streamed on the St. Francis Music Center Facebook page.
This concert is made possible, in part, by the voters of Minnesota, through a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. For more information on the concert, please contact St. Francis Music Center at (320) 632-0637.
