On December 24, 2018 at approximately 11:44 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near the address of 13796 County Road 52 in Avon Township. Deputies were advised of four occupants in the vehicle with one complaining of back pain.
Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with the driver, Nicole Nieman, 33, of St. Stephen, who said the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line and went down into the ditch. The vehicle continued eastbound in the ditch until it struck a field approach, launching over it and landing on the other side disabling it. Nicole, along with the juvenile female and juvenile male passengers were not injured. The other passenger, Eric Nieman, 34, of St. Stephen, was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Nicole reported to have temporarily fallen asleep.
The Avon Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted with the crash.
