Steven J. Zimmerman

Steven J. Zimmerman, 54-year-old resident of Elmdale, MN passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala, MN with Rev. CJ Boettcher officiating. Burial will take place in the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Cemetery in Upsala, MN. A visitation will be held from 3-7 P.M. on Sunday and from 10-11 A.M. on Monday at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala, MN. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN.
Steven was born on December 13, 1962 in Little Falls, MN to the late John and Mary (Gerads) Zimmerman. He grew up in the Upsala area where he attended school and graduated with the Class of 1981. He was united in marriage to Tracy Forberg on September 11, 1993 at Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, MN. Steven worked construction early on and later worked at Grede Foundries and the Elmdale Creamery. He was currently working for We Haul For You (moving company) in Holdingford, MN and thoroughly enjoyed his work and co-workers. Steven lived his life by the motto, “Work Hard, Play Hard”. He enjoyed working in his yard, tending to his garden and flowers and had an incredible ability to fix almost anything. In his free time, he enjoyed agate and mushroom picking, wine making, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. His passion in life was spending time with his family, especially watching Dylan and Cheryl play sports. His favorite hobbies were spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and especially ice fishing which he enjoyed the most. Steven will forever be remembered for his great sense of humor, his incredible physical strength and the love and dedication he showed to his loving family. He was dearly loved and will be dearly missed.
Steven is survived by loving wife, Tracy of Elmdale, MN; children, Dylan and Cheryl Zimmerman of Elmdale, MN; siblings, Sandy (Bill) Henry of Royalton, MN and Dennis (Maria) Zimmerman of Sauk Rapids, MN; in-laws, Richard and Sandra Forberg of Brooklyn Center, MN; brother-in-law, Ray Zanda of Little Falls, MN; step-father, Rod Brooks of Worthington, MN; step-siblings, Craig (Dot) Brooks, Julie (Stan) Haas, and Tom (Cheryl) Brooks and many nieces and nephews.
Steven was preceded in death by parents, John and Mary Zimmerman and sister, Sue Zanda.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
