Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held in the Swanville Center on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. The meeting called to order 7:00 p.m. with the following members present: Sandy Lange, Norm Carlson and Tony Maciej. Absent: Jay Bartkowicz, Jim Molitor. Also present: Steve Backowski, Duane Johnson, Brenda Schmidt, Warren Lambrecht, Karen Ring, Darryl Beacon, Gene Epling, Mark Hallen, Lonny Hutchins and reporter Sheila McCoy
Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 were reviewed. A motion was made by Tony Maciej to approve the minutes as printed. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The treasures report was given. A motion was made by Norm Carlson and seconded by Tony Maciej to approve the treasurer’s report. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Maintenance report was given by Mayor Lange. Basketball hoop is up in the park pavilion building and the RV dump station should be done in about two weeks.
Steve Backowski, Morrison County Engineer, reported that he had a surveying crew out this past week. The 2017 road projects he estimated to cost approx. $62,000.00. That cost did not include repairing bad spots on 4th street where a water line was put in and a sewer spot was repaired that would be an estimated $20,000.00 more to repair those. On second street and around to Berkey Avenue to First Street Backowski stated would have to be done by a consultant firm because of the more intense amount of work which will need to done. If the council plans on doing this project in 2017 Backowski would like to know by the end of October 2016.
The Pillsbury Beach has a discrepancy as to where the city property lines are. The owners of the property which was first donated to the Swanville School and then to the City will have a deed wrote up and then the city attorney will look over the deed and will have his opinion for the next council meeting.
The Swanville Lions Club is requesting a 3 day temporary strong liquor license for the Swanville Carnival July 8, 9, and 10. Tony Maciej made a motion to give the Swanville Lions Club a 3 day temporary strong liquor license for a fee of $80.00 for July 8, 9, and 10, 2016. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried. The Clerk will send in the necessary paper work to the State of MN.
Gene Epling will be retiring and the city maintenance worker would like a part time helper for the summer. Tony Maciej made a motion to have the Mayor and the city maintenance worker interview people and hire a part time summer worker. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.
The following claims were presented for payment. Members of the council were furnished with a listing. Tony Maciej made a motion to approve the claims. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The next monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Tony Maciej and seconded by Norm Carlson to adjourn. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned 7:55 p.m.
