Swanville City April 2, 2019

Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held in the Swanville Center on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. The meeting called to order 7:00 p.m. with the following members present: Sandy Lange, Jim Molitor, Deb Wood, Norm Carlson, and Tony Maciej. Also present: Jeremy Boots, John Gessell Sr, reporter Sheila McCoy.
Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting Tuesday, March 5, 2019 were reviewed. A motion was made by Deb Wood to approve the minutes. Jim Molitor seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The treasures report was given. A motion was made by Jim Molitor and seconded by Norm Carlson to approve the treasurer’s report. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
John Gessell Sr. was present to discuss with council land to the north of his property. Gessell stated he would like to build a garage and is unsure how much land he would need at this time. Jim Molitor made a motion to sell land to John Gessell Sr., the price and amount of land will be discussed at a later date, the garage will have to be built one year from date of sell. Deb Wood seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The cul-de-sac was discussed at the end of North Berkey Avenue. Council decided class 5 will be put down and crushed rock added on top. The work will be done by Maciej Construction.
There are two maple trees on an empty lot by North Berkey Avenue which the maintenance man would like. Norm Carlson made a motion to approve letting maintenance man Lonny take them at no charge with the removal being paid by Lonny. Jim Molitor seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Astech agreement for street sweeping was presented to council. The agreement was put on hold at this time.
Resolution #19-0402A was presented to council. The resolution states there is a $200.00 donation from the Swanville Women’s Civic Club to be used toward the flowers on main street. Tony Maciej made a motion to accept resolution #19-0402A from the Women’s Club. Deb Wood seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Resolution #19-0402B was presented to council. The resolution states there is a $200.00 donation from the Swanville Women’s Civic Club to be used toward the maintenance of the Swan River Water Trail. Deb Wood made a motion to accept resolution #19-0402B from the Women’s Club. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
A list of authorization from Morrison County Public Works was presented to the council. Council decided to authorize Lonny Hutchins, CR Peterson and Tony Maciej to charge on the MC Public Works account.
The City Clerk/Treasurer presented council with an estimate to update the city computer to Windows 10. After discussion, Jim Molitor made a motion to have the city computer updated to Windows 10. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The Local Board of Appeal will meet Thursday, April 11 at 9:00 a.m. in the Swanville Center.
The following claims were presented for payment. Members of the council were furnished with a listing. Jim Molitor made a motion to approve the claims. Tony Maciej seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The next regular monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Swanville Center.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Tony Maciej and seconded by Deb Wood to adjourn. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned 8:25 p.m.
