Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held in the Swanville Center on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. The meeting called to order 7:00 p.m. with the following members present: Jim Molitor, John Dragseth, and Norm Carlson. Absent: Sandy Lange and Tony Maciej. Also present: Clif Allen, Sarah Brunsvold, and reporter Terry Lehrke. Jim Molitor served as acting Mayor.
Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting Tuesday, March 8, 2022 were reviewed. A motion was made by John Dragseth to approve the minutes. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The treasures report was given. A motion was made by John Dragseth and seconded by Norm Carlson to approve the treasurer’s report. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Clif Allen, city engineer, was present with Sarah Brunsvold to go over the up dated plans on the water storage tank and wells. As far as funding for the project, the DEED application has been submitted and Rural Development has not yet determined and secured a dollar amount for the project. The historical review was not completed yet because of weather. An additional testimony is expected to be scheduled for the State Bonding Bill.
The Long Prairie Sanitation Refuse and Recycling Contract will expire May 31, 2022. LPS sent a letter to council requesting the city extend the current contract for an additional two years at the same rates. However, because of fuel prices, a fuel surcharge would be added to the contract. After discussion, John Dragseth made a motion to extend the Long Prairie Sanitation contract for an additional 2 years with the fuel surcharge added to the contract. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The city clerk gave a report of the break-in that occurred in the Swanville Center and City Office on March 22. A window was broken, the back door was pried open of the Center and the city office door was pried open. A filing cabinet was pried open, the AED machine was taken out, the senior collecting box broken and $380.00 taken from the city payments. The Morrison County Sherriff’s Office was called and assessed the break-in. Insurance is expected to cover the damages.
City wide clean-up day is set for Saturday, May 7, 2022 starting at 9am to 11:00am by the park.
The following claims were presented for payment. Members of the council were furnished with a listing. Norm Carlson made a motion to approve the claims. John Dragseth seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The next regular monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 7:00 pm in the Swanville Center.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Norm Carlson and seconded by John Dragseth to adjourn. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned 8:15 pm.
