Swanville City July 7, 2020

Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held in the Swanville Center on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. The meeting was called to order 7:00 p.m. with the following members present: Jim Molitor, Deb Wood, Norm Carlson, and Tony Maciej. Absent: Sandy Lange. Also present: Ashley Meagher and reporter Sheila McCoy. Jim Molitor serving as acting Mayor in the absence of Mayor Lange.
Minutes from the June 2, 2020 Swanville City Council meeting were reviewed. After discussion, a motion was made by Norm Carlson to approve the minutes. Deb Wood seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The treasures report was given. A motion was made by Deb Wood and seconded by Tony Maciej to approve the treasurer’s report. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Ashley Meagher, auditor form Schlenner, Wenner & Company, presented the city audit for 2019. Meagher stated no significate issues with any statements, errors or any issues that would raise a red flag. Overall, the audit went smoothly. After explaining the audit by Meagher and discussion by council, Tony Maciej made a motion to accept the 2019 audit. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
A letter of intent to vacate from the Swanville Dentist Office was received. Council accepted the vacate. The dentist office is closed and will be emptied by the first part of August. The dentist office has been serving the area for many years and will be missed by many.
A land use permit was submitted by Deb Walburn to build a 30’x38’ house at 106 Rhoda Avenue. The application was looked at approved by the P & Z committee. Norm Carlson made a motion to approve the land use permit for Walburn. Jim Molitor seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The council was presented with the COVID-19 preparedness plan for the City of Swanville. Jim Molitor made a motion to accept the COVID-19 preparedness plan as written. Deb Wood seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Affidavits of Candidacy for the City of Swanville, General Election will open July 28 through August 11, 2020 until 4:00 p.m. Expiring elected offices are: Mayor (2 year) position, and two Council members (4-year terms). Council members terms expiring are Norm Carlson and Deb Wood.
The following claims were presented for payment. Members of the council were furnished with a listing. Jim Molitor made a motion to approve the claims. Tony Maciej seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The next regular monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Deb Wood and seconded by Norm Carlson to adjourn. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned 7:50 p.m.
