Swanville City July 9, 2019

Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held in the Swanville Center on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. The meeting called to order 7:00 p.m. with the following members present: Sandy Lange, Jim Molitor, Deb Wood, Norm Carlson, and Tony Maciej. Also present: Jon Archer and reporter Sheila McCoy.
Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting Tuesday, June 4, 2019 were reviewed. A motion was made by Jim Molitor to approve the minutes. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor; motion carried.
The treasures report was given. A motion was made by Deb Wood and seconded by Jim Molitor to approve the treasurer’s report. All members voted in favor; motion carried.
Jon Archer, from Schlenner Wenner & Co, was present to go over the yearly audit. Jon explained the audit in detail and answered questions from council members. After discussion, Jim Molitor made a motion to accept the audit as presented. Deb Wood seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The cult e sac on North Berkey Avenue was discussed. The sand is washing away from heavy rain. It was decided to have Maciej Construction put in catch basins to help with the water run-off. Mayor Lange informed the council the land surveying to the north of the cult e sac should be done by the end of the week.
Mayor Lange presented to the council a letter from the Initiative Foundation requesting the council to consider a contribution for 2020. After discussion, Jim Molitor made a motion to contribute in 2020 – $700.00 to the Initiative Foundation. Tony Maciej seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Land use permits were presented to council. Planning and Zoning have approved both applications. John Gessell Sr. has applied to build a 30’x40’garage to the north of his property on North Berkey Avenue. Jim Molitor made a motion to approve the land use permit for John Gessell Sr. Deb Wood seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried. John and Diane Borgert have applied to redo their cement driveway, walkway and steps by their home. Deb Wood made a motion to approve the land use permit. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Quotes for new council chairs were looked at. Council asked the clerk to have two different chairs by next meeting to look over.
Councilmember Carlson reported the roof is leaking in the southwest corner of the Center and the windows are in need of caulking. The city maintenance man will look over both problems and report back to council. The blinds in the center is in need of cleaning. Council agreed to have Service Master clean the blinds when they come in to wax the floors.
The following claims were presented for payment. Members of the council were furnished with a listing. Jim Molitor made a motion to approve the claims. Tony Maciej seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The next regular monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 7:00 pm.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Jim Molitor and seconded by Deb Wood to adjourn. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned 8:30pm.
