Swanville City Council meeting was held in the Swanville Center on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. The meeting called to order 7:00 p.m. with the following members present: Sandy Lange, Deb Wood, Norm Carlson, Tony Maciej, and Jim Molitor. Also present: John Gessell, reporter Sheila McCoy, and Lonny Hutchins.
Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting Tuesday, February 6, 2018 were reviewed. A motion was made by Deb Wood to approve the minutes as printed. Tony Maciej seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The treasures report was given. A motion was made by Jim Molitor and seconded by Norm Carlson to approve the treasurer’s report. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
John Gessell Sr. was present to ask council if the fire hydrant could be moved on lot 4, block 2 of North Berkey Avenue which is the lot he is interested in purchasing. This hydrant is not on the corner of the lot and that poses a problem in the plans of the driveway. Council agreed the hydrant should be moved. Mayor Lange will check into moving the hydrant.
Mayor Lange presented to council the Morrison County Recycling Grant for $1348.00 and Cleanup Day Grant for $375.00. After discussion, Jim Molitor made a motion to sign the grants and have clean up day set for Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Deb Wood seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Maintenance worker Lonny stated he would haul black dirt to city resident’s property also that day.
Mayor Lange read a street sweeping proposal from Astech. After discussion, Jim Molitor made a motion to have Astech sweep the city streets. Deb Wood seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Lonny will set up the date for street sweeping.
Maintenance worker Lonny reported on an automated water meter reader. Councilman Maciej will check further into the cost and report back to council.
Mayor Lange reported the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization is set for Monday, April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. The clerk informed the council there is an on line site with the State of MN for council members to become certified.
The following claims were presented for payment. Members of the council were furnished with a listing. Tony Maciej made a motion to approve the claims. Jim Molitor seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The next regular monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Deb Wood and seconded by Norm Carlson to adjourn. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned 8:05 p.m.
