Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held in the Swanville Center on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. The meeting called to order 7:00 p.m. with the following members present: Sandy Lange, Norm Carlson, Deb Wood, Jim Molitor and Tony Maciej. Also present: Jeremy Boots and Tyson Hajicek from Moore engineering, Lonny Hutchins and reporter Sheila McCoy.
Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 were reviewed. A motion was made by Tony Maciej, to approve the minutes as printed. Deb Wood seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The treasures report was given. A motion was made by Deb Wood and seconded by Jim Molitor to approve the treasurer’s report. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Representatives from Moore engineering passed out the agreement (contract) between Moore and the City. After discussion, it was decided the city attorney will be sent the contract for review and will wait until word is sent back from attorney for approval.
City maintenance worker, Lonny, stated he will be ordering some class 5 dirt to be delivered at the end of North Berkey Avenue to make a turn around. Lonny discussed with council having a heater installed in the city greenhouse. Council was in favor both projects.
Mayor Lange presented a land use permit for Kathy Plakut who would like to replace her old outside steps with new 10’x6’steps with a roof over. Planning and Zoning has approved this permit. Jim Molitor made a motion to approve the permit for Plakut. Norm Carlson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Stu Johnson would like to build a garage close to his property line on Rhoda Avenue. Council agreed a variance will have to be applied for. A Public Hearing is set for October 30, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. just before the regular Planning & Zoning meeting. The clerk will send out notices to residents within 350’ from the property.
Mayor Lange presented a preliminary budget for 2019. The Mayor asked council to look the budget over for approval at the next meeting.
The following claims were presented for payment. Members of the council were furnished with a listing. Tony Maciej made a motion to approve the claims. Jim Molitor seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
The next regular monthly meeting because of the general election will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2018.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Tony Maciej and seconded by Norm Carlson to adjourn. All members voted in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned 8:30 p.m.
