Swanville Junior/Senior High School is proud to announce Amber Barton as the September Student of the Month for 10-12th grades. Amber is a senior and is the daughter of John Barton and Tina Eggerth.
Amber enjoys reading, drawing, scrapbooking and helping people. Her future plans are to attend college with the intent of eventually entering the medical field. Amber is involved in Ventures and volunteers at Ruby’s Pantry. Her academic achievements are numerous, including being on the A Honor Roll all throughout high school, lettering in Academics. Amber is a former Student of the Month, earning the Award in both the 2007/08 and 2009/10 school years. She also was selected as the English Department Student of the Year in 2011 and the Technology Department Student of the Year in 2009.
Her advice for others is to “Make the most of High School-it goes by fast.”
“Amber is a wonderful person to have had in class over the years,” states Tom Bzdok Social Studies teacher. “She sets high academic standards for herself and works hard to achieve those standards as well as everything else she does. Amber works hard in everything she does and pays attention to every detail. She is a very mature young lady who never complains, or makes excuses when things do not go as planned. She has a positive attitude, a warm smile, an eagerness to learn, and encourages classmates in a positive manner. Amber is the type of student who will make the right decisions in life, and is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. Congratulations Amber!”
Kathy Detloff, English Teacher adds, “Amber Barton is an excellent student. She is conscientious, hardworking, and can be depended upon to do the highest quality work. She is also generous with her time in helping classmates with explanations when they are confused. She pays attention to detail and will frequently do more than is expected on an assignment or a project. Amber is unfailingly polite and gracious to everyone at school, both staff and fellow students. She recognizes the contributions of others in projects and expresses her appreciation. Although Amber tends to be quiet in class, her contributions are insightful and to the point. She may not be the vocal leader, but she makes sure that necessary work is done and in a quality way. Whether in class, as a TA (teacher’s assistant), or in her after school work here, Amber is an important contributor to both the work and the climate of our school.”
