Sylvester P. Welle

Sylvester P. “Sylvie” Welle, age 84 of Spring Hill, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the CentraCare Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Sylvester Peter Welle was born July 9, 1938 in Spring Hill, Minnesota to Michael and Adella (Meyer) Welle. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1956. On August 26, 1961 he was united in marriage to Judy Imdieke at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove. Sylvie took over the family dairy farm in 1961and in 1996 switched to strictly crop farming. He also worked as a field reporter for the Stearns County USDA for ten years.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill and the church choir, St. Michael’s Men’s Society, Knights of Columbus, and Catholic United. Sylvie enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing softball and baseball, taking trips to the casino, horses, gardening, singing and dancing, and playing yard games. He enjoyed watching sporting events and was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. Sylvie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Judy Welle of Spring Hill; children, Mark (Kim) Welle of Richmond, John (Shannon) Welle of Big Lake, Eric (Jen) Welle of Rogers, and Lori (Ryan) Braegelmann of Melrose; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and sister, Bernie (Dave) Sieben of Melrose; and sister-in-law, Lillian Welle of Detroit Lakes.
Sylvie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray and Walter Welle; and sisters, Leona Rolfzen, Bernice Welle, Julie Verzuh, and Angie Welle.
Memorials are preferred to CentraCare Hospice or St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
