Thomas Howard Roe, age 69 of Grey Eagle, MN, died on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the St Cloud Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 2nd with visitation 2 hours before the service, at the Grey Eagle United Methodist Church with Pastor Gary Taylor officiating. Inurnment will be at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls at a later date. Memorials may be designated to the Grey Eagle United Methodist Church – Building Improvement Fund or the Midwest Outdoors Unlimited (Wounded Veterans Fishing Program).
Tom was born March 15, 1945 in Walker, Minnesota to Howard and Orva (Mills) Roe. He graduated from Grey Eagle High School in 1963.
Tom served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service from 1964 to 1969. In 1969 he married JoEllen Stebbins in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. They had two children, Lance Roe and Vincent Roe.
In 1987 Tom married Cathy Raffle in Grey Eagle, Minnesota.
Tom worked at Control Data for over 18 years. He later worked for the Minneapolis Public Library and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Tom was an active member of the Grey Eagle United Methodist Church. He previously served on the church board. He faithfully mowed the church lawn and coordinated snow removal services there. He was on the council of the Village View in Grey Eagle. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife Cathy Roe of St. Paul, children Vincent Roe of Apple Valley, Lance Roe of Grey Eagle, and daughter Robyn Fraenkel of Brooklyn Park, sister Charlotte (Roy) Berg of Aitkin, brother John (Janet) Roe of Grey Eagle, sister Nola Warnert of Grey Eagle, brothers Loren (Susan) Roe of Grey Eagle, Mark (Mary Beth) Roe of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and Alan (Charlotte) Roe of Grey Eagle.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; Howard Roe in 2005 and Orva Roe in 2009.
