On October 9, 2020 at approximately 7:41 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a crash, with injuries, at the intersection of County Road 17 and 165th Avenue in Holding Township. This location is approximately 1 mile east of the City of Holdingford.
When deputies arrived at the crash scene, they found two vehicles in the ditch. Both had sustained significant damage. The first vehicle was a 2006 Honda Civic that was being driven by Richard Block,46, of Little Falls, Minnesota. The second vehicle was a 2009 Chevy Impala that was being driven by Daniel Walz,16, of Holdingford, Minnesota. A passenger in the second vehicle was identified as Alex Fussy, 16, of Little Falls, Minnesota.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Block was driving his 2006 Honda Civic eastbound on County Road 17 while Walz was driving his 2009 Chevy Impala southbound on 165 Avenue. It appears Walz went through the intersection without stopping at the stop sign. The front of Block’s vehicle struck the passenger side door of Walz’s car. Walz and Fussy were treated on scene and transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance. Block was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
Holdingford Rescue and Mayo Ambulance assisted at the crash scene. The crash remains under investigation.
