Tony W. Schinske, 81, of Long Prairie, passed away November 25, 2020 at CentraCare Hospital in Long Prairie from complications of COVID-19.
Tony was born March 5, 1939, to parents Emil “Reiny” and Hazel (Howes) Schinske in Long Prairie. As a teenager Tony enjoyed working in his parents’ “Delight Shoppe”. He served in the US Army National Guard and was united in marriage to Janet Kuehne. They moved to Rockford, IL where he was employed painting guided missile parts; later moving to Burtrum. Tony was a farmer and livestock dealer, he was well known and respected throughout the area. After retirement they settled in Long Prairie and enjoyed the winters in Harlingen, TX where he continued to become friends with all who knew him.
Tony will be remembered for his kindness, easy smile, and quick wit. He enjoyed old cars, fishing, hunting and especially golf; twice achieving a hole in one!
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie, charter member of the Lions Club of Grey Eagle & Burtrum, and a member of the American Legion of Long Prairie.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, Janet, Tony is survived by daughters Jeanne (Mark) Buchholz of Sioux Falls, SD; and Joni Schinske of St. Petersburg, FL; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings Ron (Tomoko) Schinski of Japan; and Susan (Al Frisch) Schinske of Minneapolis, nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents.
A small military graveside service will be held at 11AM, December 3rd at the Moses Dane Cemetery in Burtrum, MN. Officiated by Pastor Noah Wehrspann of Trinity Lutheran Church.
