Trent R. Atkinson

Trent R. Atkinson age 62 of Melrose passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Meeker Manor Rehabilitation Center in Litchfield, MN.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Joe Korf officiating. Inurnment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Freeport.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Trent Ralph Atkinson was born on August 4, 1963 in Melrose to Edward H. and Delphine (Mader) Atkinson. He graduated from Melrose High School and joined the U.S. Army. He worked at Atkinson Well Drilling LLC, Albany Wells Inc., and Jennie-O Foods. Early in life, he enjoyed horseback riding, motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and in his later years, he enjoyed raising rabbits, and chickens. He found joy in giving his eggs away to others. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Joseph, Jennifer, and Isaiah Atkinson and Mason Maxson; his cherished grandchildren, Alex, Graci, Makayla, Brynnleigh, Wyatt, Landon, Serenity, Courage, and Jakob; brothers, Edward T. (Jackie) and Thomas Atkinson; and brother-in-law, Harlan Madeson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward H. and Delphine Atkinson; sister, Sheila Madeson; brothers, Bradley, twin brother Todd and Dean Atkinson.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral and Cremation Services of Freeport.
