Obituary for Verna E Klemish
Verna E. Klemish, 82 year old resident of Swanville, MN passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at her home near Swanville. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN with Rev. Trish Jorgenson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at a later date.
Verna Ellen Lofquist was born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota on December 13, 1931 to the late Olaf and Hilma (Peterson) Lofquist. She graduated from Upsala High School and then went on to the Elliot Business College for Secretarial courses. In 1955, she was united in marriage to Louis A.Klemish and they raised 3 children. Along with being a wonderful Mom, she began working at the Morrison County Record as a proof-reader in 1989. A few years later she began to write the Recipe column in the MC Record and continued even after her retirement from the Record. Along with her love for cooking and baking, she enjoyed her MN Twins baseball team and looked forward to the season opener every spring. She loved reading, crocheting and planning family get-togethers. She will be deeply missed by her children, Theodore Klemish (special friend, Kay), Victoria Barber (Jeffrey), and Tyrus Klemish (Donna); her Swedish daughter, Malin Schmidt (Yohan); 11 grandchildren that she loved with all her heart; sisters, Carole McDowell of LA, Norma Bolstrom of OR, Janet York (Dale) of OR; many nieces & nephews.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Joan Gafkjen, and Marlee Holmen.
