Victor W. “Vic” Wiener, age 94, of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Sauk Centre Care Center in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, December 20 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.
Victor Walter Wiener was born March 22, 1927, in Padua, Minnesota to Louis and Margaret (Krebsbach) Wiener. He joined the U.S. Navy Seabees in 1945 during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. On June 1, 1948, he married Dorothy Sunderman at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Vic worked at Al Liebel’s garage and Walker’s Chevrolet as a mechanic and then at the Sauk Centre Armory as a custodian. While working at the Armory, he bartended at the Palmer House and at the American Legion Post 67. In his spare time, Vic volunteered his time with the Sauk Centre Fire Department for 30 plus years. He was a member of the Sauk Centre Lions, Bishop Busch Council #4863 Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 67, and Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853. Vic also ran the American Legion fair stand for many years, drove ambulance, was a firearm safety instructor for 50 plus years, and drove school bus; becoming a dad to all those who rode his bus. Vic also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and Sauk Centre High School sports.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dutch” Wiener of Sauk Centre; children, Cindy (Roger) Uhlenkamp of Villard, Rick (Elaine) Wiener of Apple Valley, Pam (Tim) Walker of Sun City West, Arizona, Nona (Denny) Walter of Sauk Centre, Randy Wiener of Sauk Centre, Jodie (Tim) Deschene of Sauk Centre, and Rob (Jo) Wiener of Sauk Centre; 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; and sister, Gloria Harless of Idaho.
Vic was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Trudy Wiener; granddaughters, Marie Uhlenkamp and Shaunia Zirbes; brothers, Melvin and Howard Wiener; and sister, Alvina Goering.
