Mass of Christian Burial for Wallace (Wally) Brever will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie. Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarissa.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville, and Friday, November 8 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie.
Wally was born July 5, 1942, in Clarissa, to Gerhard & Julia (Drajna) Brever. He graduated from Clarissa High School in 1960. After graduation Wally moved to the twin cities where he met Joyce while working at Montgomery Wards. Wally and Joyce were married in Clark, SD on August 24, 1963. They moved to Long Prairie in 1965. Wally started working at Hart’s Press; retiring in 2004. He also worked as a part-time police officer for the City of Long Prairie for several years. Wally enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, camping, and his ’63 Chevy Impala.
Wally is survived by his wife Joyce; his dogs Pepper and Buddy; children: Wallace John Brever, Julie (Dean) Lunser, Michael (Missy) Brever, Dennis (Melisa) Brever; grandchildren: Derek (Tracy) Lunser, Wade Lunser, Cole Lunser, Brandon Brever, Brayley Brever, Justin Brever, Jeremy (Hanae) Brever, Jared Brever, Nathan Blowers, and great-grandson Dawson Merten; siblings: Daryl (Karen) Brever, Bernadette Meyer, brother-in-law Duane Hanes, and sister-in-law Jeanie Brever.
Wally is preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Julia; stepmother Martha; sister Lois (Brever) Hanes, brother DeWayne Brever; brother-in-law Richard Meyer; in-laws Raymond and Ellen Sprouse and beloved dog Cocoa.
