Weekday lane closures begin on Highway 10 through Royalton week of Aug. 17

August 10, 2026 by Hometown News

BAXTER, Minn. – Travelers on both directions of Highway 10 through Royalton will encounter lane closures and delays beginning the week of Monday, Aug. 17, as roadwork gets underway, advises the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The $1.1 million project will update pedestrian facilities and resurface Highway 10 through Royalton. Work will take place Monday to Friday during daytime hours, weather permitting.

Pedestrian facility updates in Royalton

Beginning the week of Aug. 17, crews will update sidewalks and approaches along westbound Highway 10 from North First Street to Morrison County Road 26, including the intersection of Highway 10 and County Road 26.

Expect periodic lane or shoulder closures on Highway 10 and nearby side streets and entrances.
Pedestrians will encounter sidewalk closures; follow posted signs.
Highway 10 resurfacing

In late August, after sidewalk work is completed, crews will resurface (mill and pave) both directions of Highway 10 from North Maple Street to the south end of town.

Be prepared for lane closures and flaggers throughout the work zone.
Work will take place in segments, so expect the location of active construction to shift as the project progresses.
All work is weather-dependent, and the schedule is subject to change.

MnDOT advises travelers to always slow down when approaching work zones and proceed with caution. Other reminders:

Never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones
Stay alert; work zones constantly change
Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment
Obey posted speed limits; fine for a work zone violation is $300
Minimize distractions behind the wheel
When completed by early September, motorists will benefit from a smoother road surface and updated sidewalks along Highway 10 through Royalton.
