William L. “Bill” Bredeck, age 60 of Albany, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 23, 2015 at his home after fighting a courageous battle of cancer since Feb. 26, 2013.
A Mass of Catholic Burial was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
William Leo Bredeck was born September 24, 1954 at the St. Cloud Hospital to the late Leo and LuElla (Maus) Bredeck of Albany. Bill was united in marriage to Joan (Zeis) Bredeck on October 13, 1979 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Bill worked at Smurfit Stone Container for 25 years as a Maintenance and Chief Boiler Operator and for the past five years at the Minnesota Department of Corrections as a Stationary Engineer. Bill had a passion for farming his entire life on the Bredeck Century Farm in addition to being an avid sports fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the art of welding farm equipment.
Bill was a member of the Catholic United Financial #400 and the Knights of Columbus, Father Pierz Council #3628.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Bredeck of Albany; children, Megan, John, and Maria of Albany; sisters and brothers, Annette (Bill) Elliott of Burnsville, Mike (Sue) Bredeck of Madison, Mary (Kenn) Day of Baxter, Joni Hemker of Freeport, and Sheila (Ron) Hoeschen of Eden Prairie.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and LuElla Bredeck; and brother-in-law, Mark Hemker.
Serving as casket bearers were Lyle Lochen, Joey Schiffler, Dale Weisbrich, Daniel Zeis, Timmy Gerads, Danny Groetsch, Ed Merkling, Doug Wagner, Jim Rehkamp, and Jeff Bushman. Cross bearer was his nephew and Godchild, Bill Elliott and scripture bearer was his niece and Godchild, Mary Bredeck.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
