William L. Pohlmann, 53 year old resident of Upsala, MN passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala MN with Father Bob Harren officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Upsala, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Friday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala and from 10-11 A.M. on Saturday at the church.
William Lawrence Pohlmann was born on July 8, 1965 in Melrose, Minnesota to Joseph and Caroline (Wiechmann) Pohlmann. Bill graduated from Melrose High School in 1983. Bill continued to work on the family farm. He married Mary Hartung on September 8, 1990 and they were blessed with three children. In 1994, Bill and his family moved to Upsala, when Bill took a job at Woodcraft Industries in St. Cloud, where he worked until his death. He never lost his love of farming, as he continued to help out when he could on the family farm and then later started working for Kasella Dairy in Royalton on the weekends.
Bill was a very proud father. He attended all of his kids’ sporting events and wouldn’t miss any of their school or church functions. His cheers were always heard. Bill was always smiling and had been nicknamed “Smiley”. He enjoyed playing softball, pool and bowling in his younger years, enjoyed their family vacations, attending family events, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and being outdoors. Bill was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Upsala where he had served as an usher.
Bill is survived by his children, Shawn of Grand Rapids and Stefani of Upsala; mother, Caroline of Melrose; brother, Michael (Lori Ann) of Melrose, sister, Rosanne (Wayne) Nylander of Big Lake, brother, Paul (Jodi) Pohlmann of Freeport, sister, Joan (Mark) Flaig of Willmar, brother, Mark (Amy) of Melrose, brother, Peter (Carolyn) of St. Cloud; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Kyrsten; father, Joseph; his grandparents, and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
