On May 14, 2026, at approximately 9:55 a.m., the Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a call of a fire at the address of 22123 293rd Ave in Zion Township. The callers stated their attached garage was on fire. Heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the home. The Paynesville Fire Department arrived on scene and began to extinguish the flames. The fire is believed to have started near an outside wood burner. The garage and home are considered a total loss.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Paynesville Fire Department, Lake Henry Fire Department, St. Martin Fire Department, Chain of Lakes Fire Department, Richmond Fire Department, Belgrade Fire Department, and Paynesville Ambulance.
